Mest 3 Representation - Chosen Texts

For my mest 3 as we are focusing on the representation of different eras and focusing on different texts that illustrate that texts from adverts, films and tv shows, so far we have looked at the tv show 'mad men', the tv show 'mad men' represent the era of the 1950s and 60s where the men were more of the dominant gender and the women were more the type of stay at home kind of women.
Eventhough in 'mad men' there are certain women who are dominant and can satnd on their own feet, the representaion of the 1950s and 60s era was more posh and sophisticated, with the men wearing posh suits and hats and smokes cigerrettes in which those days they though it was healthy and the women wore dresses so you could see the diference in era.

For my case study on represenation i am focusing on the represenation of race and the look and attitude to different races, especially the black culture and what they represent.
The texts that i am choosing to focus on for my representation case study is:

• Topboy
• Everybody hates Chris
• Eastenders E20 
• Fresh prince of Bel air

The reason why im choosing these texts is because each has a crucial paart to play in the represenation of race and how it is brought across to the audience and how the aaudience deals with it.

Media Studies Mest 3- Representation

For the Mest 3 part of our media studies course we are looking at the representation of different texts, in certain eras, looking at the way that the media brings those representations to the audience and the ideas and the theories that surround these texts.
