Mest 3 Text Platform Analysis - Fresh Prince Opening
The opening of fresh prince of bel air starts with a close up shot of the main character with will smith sitting on a chair while it rotates, this first bit of the opening shot shows dominance and flair due to the clothes that he is wearing, and the way that he is positioned on the chair.
The music starts in the background is up beat and follows the rythm, getting the audience into the mood of the programme. By the first couple of seconds of the opening the audience can also tell that will is living the 'american dream' which is ideology that is created by the way in which he raps in the opening you can tell that he is laid back and relaxed.
The setting in which the intro is based, the audience can tell that the main character's background is is from the black suburbs by the graffiti and the urban artwork that is present, telling that his future could be bright.

Mest 3 Text Analysis - Top Boy
The programme is set in the modern era of london, and represents the lack culture and their life struggle growing up in the rough parts of london. The programme targets the audience of youth teenagers, age from 15 - 25 at least, with the explicit language that is used and the violence that is involved.
The independent quoted ' The drama involved virtually no preaching at all, but a sense of morality was everywhere, as bad conscience flickered in the face of the toughest characters and grief hit the culpable and the blameless alike. Best of all, it always found a little time for something other than plot, whether it was banter on stairwells or the melancholy beauty of the city at night. Seriously good television.'

Mest 3 Text Analysis - Eastenders E20
The third text that i have decided to focus on, in terms of my case study that is focused on representation is eastenders e20.
EastEnders: E20 is a British Internet soap opera, which began airing on 8 January 2010. A spin-off from the established BBC soap EastEnders, it is set in EastEnders' regular setting of Albert Square, a Victorian square in the fictional borough of Walford, in the East End of London. Each series follows a group of teenage characters.
EastEnders: E20 is filmed on the same set as EastEnders, using three handheld cameras to give it a more "edgy" feel compared to EastEnders, which is filmed with cameras on tripods.
Each series features new teenage characters who move to Walford, as well as cameos from existing characters from the main show. The characters are described as sixth form students trying to escape from "family problems and crises of their own making".
Eastenders E20 represents race in the modern era, in the latest series 2 out of the 3 main characters are black, the audince interprets them as young teenagers tryin to fnd their way in a not to sophisticated area such as watford. The target audince is preferably teenagers, but adults can be considered as an inviolved audience also.

Mest 3 Text Analysis - Everybody Hates Chris
For my second text i have decided to focus on Everybody Hates chris.
Everybody Hates Chris is an African American television period sitcom inspired by the teenage experiences of comedian Chris Rock (who is also the narrator), while growing up in theBedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The show is set from 1982 to 1987; however, Rock himself was a teenager during years 1978-1983. Chris Rock grew up with a boy named Kenny Montero who he has often referred to as the inspiration for a lot of the episodes. In many interviews, Rock has described Kenny as the reason he got into comedy in the first place.
Set in the mid 1980s, the show revolves around the everyday life of Chris. Chris is a 16-year-old high school student in the series' last episode. Chris is one of the few "normal" characters on the show, surrounded by a collection of eccentric characters that, in his point of view, act as if they dislike him. Chris lives in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, a working-class community and attends an all-white school in Brooklyn Beach, where students and teachers alike pick on him. If events progress favorably for Chris throughout an episode, they will almost certainly backfire on him by the end. Likewise, if a situation isn't going Chris' way, it always gets worse for him, whether or not he tries to change it or not.

Media Mest 3 - Text Analysis - Fresh prince of Bel Air
For my Mest 3 Representation as i am focusing on the representation of race in different eras, the first
text that i have decided to focus on is Fresh prince of bel air.
The show stars Will Smith as a fictionalized version of himself, a street-smart teenager from West Philadelphia who is sent to move in with his aunt and uncle in their wealthy Bel Air mansion, where his lifestyle often clashes with that of his relatives. The 148 episodes were transmitted over six seasons.
The background of will smith who stars in the 90s sitcom is that Will Smith was a popular and successful rapper during the late 1980s, but because he had spent money too freely and grossly underpaid his income taxes, he was assessed a penalty of $2.8 million by the IRS. The agency subsequently seized many of his possessions and garnished his income. This left Smith nearly bankrupt when, in 1990, he was approached by the television network NBC who signed him on to a contract and built a sitcom around him.
In the sitcom the audience follows the main character as he tries to grasp the american dream as he moves into his uncle's house after being kicked out by his mum for getting into trouble with a gang of black youths. Coming to the era of the 90s the black race started to be relieved of the discrimination and the racial foresight by other backgrounds, and they started to become more involved within the society, whereas in the 80s like the sitcom 'Everybody hates Chris' you could still see that mere division.

Media Studies Mest 3 - The Leveson Inquiry
The Leveson inquiry is an inquiry that looks into the culture, practices, and the ethics of the press, and these are running in four modules, these are:

- Module 4 - Recommendations for a more effective policy and regulation, that supports the integrity and freedom of the press while encouraging the highest ethical standards.
The people that is involved within the inquiry is Lord justice leveson, assessors, council to inquiry and the inquiry team.
This video shows the Mcann parents talking about how when they returned from portugal they were literally consumed by reporters and paparazzi, they also explain how there twins daughters were so frightened at how the paparazzi were banging on the windows desperetly wanting some kind of mg shot for them to put with their story. They described themselves as being 'Violated by the media'.
Leveson Inquiry Questions -
1. Why is this inquiry important for society?
The Leveson inquiry is important for the society because it allows the audience to ask questions and it informs them about the latest issues that is concerning people like celebrities and politicians.
It also allows the public to get involved ad give their opinions on the issues that matter and the issues that is concerning and having a impact on their lives. The public could also attend on the inquiry and be there while they are speaking.
2. What other media debates does this link into?
The media debates that the Leveson inquiry links to is debates such as privacy, for example the Mcann parents were speaking to the Leveson inquiry about their treatment about the press, you can tell that the parents feel victimised by the media and they also feel pressured and trapped also, as if they haven't got a life of their own.

Mest 3 Representation - Chosen Texts
For my mest 3 as we are focusing on the representation of different eras and focusing on different texts that illustrate that texts from adverts, films and tv shows, so far we have looked at the tv show 'mad men', the tv show 'mad men' represent the era of the 1950s and 60s where the men were more of the dominant gender and the women were more the type of stay at home kind of women.
Eventhough in 'mad men' there are certain women who are dominant and can satnd on their own feet, the representaion of the 1950s and 60s era was more posh and sophisticated, with the men wearing posh suits and hats and smokes cigerrettes in which those days they though it was healthy and the women wore dresses so you could see the diference in era.
For my case study on represenation i am focusing on the represenation of race and the look and attitude to different races, especially the black culture and what they represent.
The texts that i am choosing to focus on for my representation case study is:
